Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and evolve scalable, available, performant, and secure backend services and REST APIs.
  • Participate in architecture discussions and technical decisions involving event-driven, hexagonal, and domain-driven approaches.
  • Implement and maintain OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, mTLS, JWT, and application security standards.
  • Conduct code reviews and maintain standards for code quality, testing, and OpenAPI/Swagger documentation.
  • Monitor and optimize performance through profiling, query tuning, caching, and concurrency improvements.
  • Implement observability through structured logs, metrics, and distributed tracing, and respond to incidents.
  • Collaborate with Product, QA, SRE/Cloud, and Support teams while identifying and mitigating risks.
  • Serve as a technical reference by supporting less experienced developers and sharing engineering practices.

Requirements

  • Solid backend development experience with Java, preferably Java 17 or later, object-oriented programming, and SOLID principles.
  • Experience with Spring Boot, hexagonal architecture, event-driven systems, RESTful APIs, OpenAPI/Swagger, and Maven or Gradle.
  • Practical AWS experience with SNS, SQS, RDS, S3, CloudWatch, ECR, and DocumentDB or MongoDB.
  • Experience with Docker or Docker Compose and basic Kubernetes manifests, deployments, services, and kubectl troubleshooting.
  • Knowledge of observability concepts involving logs, metrics, and tracing, as well as relational and non-relational databases and query modeling.
  • Experience with CI/CD practices, branching, pipelines, pull requests, and feature flags.
  • Knowledge of OWASP security practices, ASVS/Top 10, JWT/JWS, mTLS, and secure secrets management.
  • Experience with high-availability and mission-critical environments.
  • Production experience with identity and access management using Keycloak or an equivalent, plus OAuth 2.0 and OpenID Connect.
  • Preferred: advanced Keycloak configuration, OAuth 2.0 grants, PAR, JAR, and DCR.
  • Preferred: Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry, performance testing with k6 or JMeter, JVM tuning, Helm, Terraform, and JavaScript/TypeScript.
  • Preferred: participation in technical communities, events, or open-source projects, and experience with technical leadership, guilds, chapters, standards, or mentoring.
