Responsibilities
- Understand long-term architectural direction and design reusable components and interactions across applications.
- Work with TDMs, business analysts, and solution designers to translate business requirements into scalable, interoperable, performant, reliable, and available technology solutions.
- Design, develop, unit test, and implement backend software supporting mobile apps, SDKs, micro-frontends, WhatsApp, and ecosystem partners.
- Establish platform-development standards and create reusable development frameworks.
- Create technical specifications and detailed plans, write code, own unit, performance, and functional testing, and participate actively in rollout and launch.
- Develop open APIs and integration capabilities connecting customer, distribution, partnership, and core applications.
- Develop reusable platform capabilities as RESTful services and continuously deliver high-quality code to production.
- Define and enforce architecture and coding standards while collaborating with engineers, designers, R&D, analysts, product managers, and other stakeholders.
- Use data-driven insights and emerging technologies to build differentiated programs, applications, and propositions.
- Lead strategic communication with senior management, including project steering committees and status updates.
Requirements
- Principal or Lead-level software engineering experience with 6–15 years stated for the role and 7–18 years of overall experience stated in the technical requirements.
- Hands-on experience engineering enterprise-grade solutions and translating technology and architectural strategy into engineering solutions.
- Deep expertise in Java, NodeJS, Python, scalable event-driven and distributed microservices, enterprise NoSQL databases such as Couchbase, stream processing such as Flink and Google Cloud Dataflow, REST API frameworks such as Swagger, pub-sub frameworks such as Google Cloud Pub/Sub and Kafka, and secure full-duplex communication using WebSocket Secure.
- Proficiency with GitHub, GitHub Copilot, GitHub Actions, build pipelines, Java development tools, IDEs, Jira, Confluence, Kubernetes, Docker, Google Cloud Platform, Jenkins, Postman, and WebSocket client tools.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, or equivalent, with suitable certifications for key skills.
- Fluent written and spoken English, strong communication and problem-analysis skills, innovation, attention to detail, independence, organizational ability, vendor management, negotiation, prioritization, and willingness to remain hands-on.
- Ability to collaborate effectively and engage senior management on strategic plans, steering committees, and status updates.
