Senior Platform Engineer, Operational Data Store

Responsibilities
- Design and deliver core capabilities for a real-time Operational Data Store supporting enterprise payment and client experiences.
- Optimize read-path latency, scalability, resiliency, availability, and throughput for large-scale distributed systems.
- Automate tenant provisioning, governance controls, and operational workflows to enable self-service adoption.
- Evaluate technologies, validate solutions under production-scale workloads, and influence platform strategy and architecture.
- Build observability, resiliency, and recovery capabilities to improve service health and reduce operational risk.
- Collaborate across engineering, architecture, and product teams while documenting solutions and driving technical outcomes.
Requirements
- Proven experience building and operating large-scale distributed systems in production with a focus on reliability, scalability, and performance.
- Hands-on experience with distributed NoSQL databases and data-serving platforms, including data modeling, indexing, and low-latency access patterns.
- Strong experience with Apache Kafka, event-driven architectures, streaming data pipelines, schema management, and operational troubleshooting.
- Experience automating infrastructure and operational processes with Infrastructure as Code, continuous integration and deployment, and cloud-native technologies.
- Ability to influence technical decisions, solve complex challenges, document solutions clearly, and drive outcomes across teams.
- Preferred experience in payments, financial technology, or regulated industries.
- Preferred knowledge of Kubernetes, Google Cloud Platform, Apache Iceberg, or modern lakehouse architectures.
- Preferred experience contributing to open-source data infrastructure or building managed database and streaming-platform solutions.
