Responsibilities
- Lead development and begin architecting scalable, elastic distributed system components for hyper-scale workloads.
- Optimize code, systems, and data paths for high-throughput retrieval, storage, and processing.
- Design fault-tolerant systems with redundancy, replication, automatic failover, partition handling, load-shedding, throttling, and rate-limiting.
- Define KPIs and telemetry, and build dashboards, alerting, performance tests, and complex fault-injection or brownout validation scenarios.
- Implement replication and synchronization techniques to preserve data correctness, integrity, durability, and availability.
- Diagnose and resolve production issues, support incident response and root-cause investigations, and participate in operational support rotations.
- Implement security controls, execute remediation plans, maintain compliance documentation, and develop infrastructure-as-code automation.
- Create and follow change-management plans for patching, updates, and rollbacks.
- Coordinate moderately complex work across projects, mentor junior team members, contribute to process improvements, and participate in candidate interviews.
Requirements
- Experience leading development and beginning architecture of scalable distributed systems is required by the role scope.
- Ability to design high-throughput, elastic, fault-tolerant, and in-service-upgradable systems with replication, failover, and partition-handling strategies.
- Ability to develop observability, performance testing, fault-injection validation, incident response, and operational readiness practices.
- Ability to implement security controls, remediation plans, cloud compliance practices, and infrastructure-as-code automation.
- Ability to coordinate moderately complex initiatives, collaborate with stakeholders, solve complex problems, mentor others, and contribute to hiring decisions.
