Responsibilities
- Design, develop, deploy, and optimize large-scale real-time search systems in production.
- Build search capabilities involving information retrieval, query understanding, query augmentation, multi-stage ranking, personalization, and user feedback loops.
- Develop and optimize deep learning, embedding, LLM, and ML model serving in the production query/request path.
- Implement multi-objective search optimization across relevance, diversity, freshness, and fairness.
- Build real-time data processing and model retraining pipelines.
- Tune models, quantization, KV-cache, and batching for low-latency and high-throughput inference.
- Collaborate with AI/ML scientists and engineers on Generative AI and Information Retrieval systems.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Statistics, or a related field.
- 10+ years of experience in Machine Learning, Data Science, or Software Engineering, with significant focus on search infrastructure and information retrieval.
- Hands-on experience building and deploying large-scale search systems in production.
- Deep understanding of information retrieval, query understanding, query augmentation, and multi-stage ranking algorithms.
- Experience with deep learning architectures for search and retrieval, including transformers, cross-encoder models, graph neural networks, and learned sparse representations.
- Strong proficiency in Go, Java, C++, and Python.
- Experience with PyTorch and XGBoost.
- Experience with AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, Spark, Flink, FAISS, Apache Kafka, OpenSearch, and/or Elasticsearch.
- Experience deploying, serving, and optimizing LLMs, embeddings, and ML models in production query paths.
- Preferred experience includes a Master's degree or PhD, published work or patents, TigerGraph, DVC, MLflow, Weights & Biases, SSTables, Cassandra, ONNX Runtime, TensorRT, TensorRT-LLM, vLLM, SGLang, Triton, and TorchServe.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
