Base Salary
$215k - $260k/yr
Responsibilities
- Set the technical direction and own the roadmap for Crusoe’s Linux kernel team.
- Architect and lead kernel features, security patching infrastructure, deployment systems, and other critical projects through production and upstream contribution.
- Perform root-cause analysis across OS and hardware layers, lead kernel CVE triage and backporting, and build automated vulnerability-analysis tooling.
- Develop and review Linux kernel code for memory management, scheduling, networking, storage, GPU-related subsystems, and I/O.
- Design and implement low-latency, highly scalable virtualization technologies for GPU-accelerated AI and HPC workloads across hypervisors and device emulation.
- Develop proactive kernel efficiency improvements, including DAMON-based memory management, hugepage optimization, and memory overcommit.
- Mentor and review the work of mid-level and junior engineers.
Requirements
- 10+ years of systems software engineering experience on low-level systems or infrastructure teams.
- Deep knowledge of Linux kernel internals, including memory management, scheduling, networking, storage, I/O, and/or device drivers.
- Strong C programming skills and fluency with the kernel development workflow, including patch submission, mailing lists, and Lore.
- Experience evaluating kernel security vulnerabilities through CVE analysis, exploitability assessment, and backporting fixes.
- Demonstrated ability to set technical direction and drive projects end-to-end.
- Deep knowledge of virtualization technologies such as KVM, Xen, or QEMU.
- A track record of upstream Linux kernel contributions is strongly preferred.
