Responsibilities

  • Drive firmware development through design, development, debugging, and verification in pre-silicon and post-silicon environments.
  • Develop an RTOS-based core firmware stack providing services and frameworks for power management controller algorithms.
  • Help define Reliability, Availability, and Serviceability solutions for future Qualcomm CPUs.
  • Contribute processor architecture, device driver, and firmware feature support to open source communities.
  • Collaborate on silicon and platform bring-up, debugging, and diagnostics.
  • Work with hardware and firmware teams, third parties, and SoC and platform architects on platform enablement and future designs.
  • Assist with identifying skills requirements and hiring engineers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field plus 4+ years of software engineering or related experience; alternatively, a master's degree plus 3+ years or a PhD plus 2+ years.
  • At least 2 years of experience with programming languages such as C, C++, Java, or Python.
  • Preferred: bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science, or equivalent professional experience, with 8 years of embedded firmware development experience.
  • Experience or familiarity with datacenter server error reporting and manageability requirements, ARM RAS specifications, ARM CPU RAS extensions, SDEI, APEI, UEFI CPER, and ARMv8 architecture.
  • Proficiency writing and debugging C and assembly.
  • Driver development experience in RTOS or OS kernel environments.
  • Embedded OS experience with Zephyr, eCos, uC/OS, or FreeRTOS.
  • Experience debugging in pre-silicon environments using simulators and FPGA emulation.
  • Experience defining interprocessor communication interfaces between embedded controllers and platforms.
  • Technical leadership, initiative, and experience collaborating across hardware and firmware teams.
