Base Salary
$202k - $238k/yr
Responsibilities
- Own technical architecture and design decisions for IPC services
- Design, build, and operate backend services using Python, Go, Java, PostgreSQL, and the Drools rules engine
- Lead cross-team technical initiatives and platform integration work
- Develop platform capabilities supporting carrier onboarding, product launches, and configuration flexibility
- Mentor engineers through code reviews, design reviews, and pairing
- Define SLOs, improve observability, and share on-call responsibility for IPC workloads
- Use and promote effective agentic AI-assisted development practices
- Communicate technical decisions, trade-offs, and status clearly in a remote-first, asynchronous environment
Requirements
- 8+ years of professional backend software development experience, including prior Staff or Senior-level work
- Strong proficiency in Go and Python; Java experience is a plus
- Deep experience with distributed systems, microservices, and API design using Protocol Buffers and OpenAPI
- Experience with PostgreSQL or other relational databases at scale
- Hands-on experience with Kubernetes, Docker, and Google Cloud Platform or equivalent cloud infrastructure
- Proven ability to build, deploy, and troubleshoot production services end-to-end
- Experience using agentic AI coding tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, or Copilot as a deliberate daily practice
- Ability to write maintainable, well-tested software and proactively identify and resolve risks
