Responsibilities
- Set technical direction across multiple products, platforms, AI infrastructure, data platforms, and shared primitives while personally building high-leverage components.
- Define prompt libraries, Model Context Protocol server patterns, AI-generated-code quality gates, and human-agent collaboration practices.
- Architect secure and governed Model Context Protocol integrations for internal APIs, data sources, and platform services.
- Drive build-versus-buy decisions, strategic standards, prioritization mechanisms, launch checklists, SLOs, and contingency planning.
- Standardize metrics, AI evaluation frameworks, sample-size requirements, and guardrail dashboards before initiatives scale.
- Define responsible-AI guardrails and review processes, including post-incident feedback into design standards.
- Modernize legacy systems into scalable, cloud-native, agent-ready services through migration paths and architectural patterns.
- Safeguard sensitive member data through security patterns and collaboration with Risk, Security, and Compliance teams.
- Mentor staff-level and senior engineers and shape technical-leadership norms across individual contributors.
Requirements
- 8 to 12 years of full-stack development and architecture experience building web applications and services, including technical leadership beyond a single team.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent experience.
- Recent hands-on experience personally building and shipping working software.
- Advanced hands-on use of AI coding agents such as Claude Code, Cursor, or GitHub Copilot, including multi-step work and adoption of engineering practices.
- Strong proficiency in at least two of TypeScript/JavaScript, Python, and C#/.NET, plus experience with modern frontend frameworks such as React, Next.js, Vue, or Angular.
- Deep experience with RESTful API design, distributed systems, microservices at scale, and cloud-native delivery on AWS, Azure, or GCP, including multi-region or hybrid deployments.
- Hands-on experience with the Model Context Protocol, prompt engineering for code, Azure AI Foundry, RAG, LangChain, GraphRAG, or GraphDB.
- Production experience with real-time streaming and distributed messaging such as Redis, Kafka, or RabbitMQ, plus Docker, Kubernetes, infrastructure-as-code, and modern DevOps or SRE practices.
- Experience mentoring senior engineers, raising engineering standards through frameworks, and explaining complex AI and architecture concepts to executives and non-technical partners.
