Base Salary
$143k - $179k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design, build, test, and document core billing software components.
- Deliver projects for pricing plans, billing, metering, rating, subscriptions, and usage-based billing.
- Integrate third-party billing platforms and develop internal billing integrations.
- Track and report customer usage data accurately while maintaining billing data integrity and high availability.
- Build automation for recurring billing, reconciliation, and reporting tasks.
- Collaborate with product, sales, finance, support, engineering, and design teams on billing requirements and customer inquiries.
- Provide technical expertise, drive code quality and architectural reviews, and document system designs.
- Establish observability, alerting, and error handling across the billing pipeline.
- Lead incident response and root-cause analysis for billing-related issues.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to other engineers.
Requirements
- Backend software engineering experience focused on billing, payments, or financial systems.
- Deep knowledge of SaaS billing models, including subscriptions, usage-based pricing, proration, discounts, and entitlements.
- Experience integrating third-party billing platforms such as Stripe, Metronome, Orb, or Zuora, or building custom billing systems.
- Experience designing and managing distributed systems, microservices, and event-driven architectures.
- Proficiency with SQL and data modeling for financial and usage data.
- Understanding of APIs and experience building or integrating internal billing APIs.
- Strong proficiency in Go, or production-quality programming experience in another language with willingness to work with Go.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and flexibility in a startup environment.
