Forward Deployed AI Engineer

Responsibilities
- Drive end-to-end technical deployment of Latent Labs models into customer environments and integrate them with existing scientific and IT infrastructure.
- Design and build production-grade API integrations, data pipelines, and model-serving infrastructure tailored to customer requirements.
- Work on-site or embedded with pharmaceutical and biotech partners to scope requirements, troubleshoot issues, and deliver solutions.
- Ensure deployments meet enterprise standards for security, performance, and reliability.
- Serve as the technical point of contact for assigned customers and build relationships with their scientific and engineering teams.
- Gather and synthesize customer feedback into actionable insights for product, research, and platform teams.
- Collaborate with internal teams to shape the product roadmap based on deployment learnings.
- Create customer technical documentation, integration guides, and best-practice resources.
- Stay current with ML infrastructure, model serving, and cloud-native tooling.
- Develop working knowledge of protein and cell biology and participate in internal knowledge sharing, including reading groups.
Requirements
- A BSc, MSc, or PhD in Computer Science, Machine Learning, or a closely related quantitative field.
- Strong software engineering fundamentals and familiarity with modern machine learning frameworks.
- Experience building systems that access large models through APIs.
- Significant experience designing, deploying, and maintaining large-scale model-serving infrastructure and robust API layers around machine learning models.
- Direct experience deploying AI systems for external customers.
- Hands-on experience with AWS and ideally other major cloud platforms such as GCP and Azure.
- Experience with containerization using Docker and Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud-native architectures.
- Strong communication, technical documentation, presentation, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Experience with computational biology, protein design, or other life-science machine-learning projects is advantageous.
- A track record of novel contributions to generative modeling through publications, open-source work, or impactful product features is advantageous.
- Experience delivering enterprise-grade production software with security, compliance, auditability, and uptime requirements is advantageous.
- Pharma or biotech industry experience and familiarity with related regulatory, data governance, and scientific workflow requirements are advantageous.
