Responsibilities

  • Own the design and delivery of backend platform features and break complex projects into scoped tasks.
  • Contribute to architecture for scalable, fault-tolerant, multi-tenant, and operationally simple platform services.
  • Build and improve backend microservices and core platform services using AWS-managed services and event-driven patterns.
  • Evaluate technology choices, system boundaries, API contracts, and backward compatibility, and write design documentation.
  • Improve observability, resiliency, security, supportability, diagnostics, runbooks, and SLO-driven operations.
  • Participate in design reviews, capacity planning, on-call support, incident retrospectives, and root-cause analysis.
  • Mentor junior engineers through code reviews, design discussions, and one-on-ones.
  • Collaborate with Product Management and support recruiting as needed.

Requirements

  • At least 7 years of software engineering experience with some mentoring experience.
  • BS in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience with SaaS/PaaS products and high-availability, multi-tenant systems.
  • Strong Golang experience preferred, with production-grade gRPC microservices experience a plus.
  • Strong understanding of distributed systems, data structures, algorithms, operating systems, systems programming, API design, and versioning.
  • Experience with AWS as a primary cloud platform and familiarity with Kubernetes/EKS.
  • Experience deploying and operating production services, release management, operational readiness, observability, alerting, diagnostics, runbooks, incident response, and root-cause analysis.
  • Familiarity with Terraform, CDK, or CloudFormation and cloud-native service delivery practices.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, collaboration, mentoring, and consensus-building skills.
  • Experience with additional AWS services, monitoring/logging/tracing or platform-management tools, multi-cloud environments, network security, cloud networking, SASE/SD-WAN, open-source contributions, or technical writing is preferred.
