Responsibilities
- Own the overall architecture and long-term technical strategy for the developer tools platform.
- Define a modular, extensible Visual Studio Code-based ecosystem including extension frameworks, APIs, service integration layers, and UI architecture.
- Lead the modernization of Eclipse-based tooling and guide cross-team architectural alignment.
- Architect workflows for cross-compilation, build orchestration, debugging, trace analysis, remote target connectivity, code analysis, and AI-assisted development.
- Guide plugin and extension ecosystems for internal teams and external partners.
- Mentor senior engineers and technical leads and lead architectural reviews and technical decisions.
- Define standards for performance, observability, resilience, security, testing, platform compatibility, and maintainability.
- Improve build, release, and deployment pipelines for tooling components.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- 12+ years of software development experience, including significant senior technical leadership or architecture experience.
- Deep expertise in TypeScript and modern frontend architecture with strong React experience.
- Extensive experience designing and maintaining large, modular frontend platforms.
- Strong hands-on experience with Visual Studio Code extension architecture.
- Experience with Eclipse RCP/plugin architecture or other extensible IDE platforms.
- Strong understanding of API design, modular systems, extensibility frameworks, backend integration patterns, and service-oriented architectures.
- Experience with build systems, compilers, debuggers, or developer toolchains.
- Familiarity with Docker, release engineering at scale, and development or deployment pipelines.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Preferred qualifications include knowledge of hypervisors, embedded systems, RTOS, LSP, DAP, remote development environments, cloud-based developer workspaces, AI-assisted developer tools, open-source IDE ecosystems, SDKs, and third-party extension frameworks.
