Base Salary

$174k - $252k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Participate in or lead design reviews and select technologies with peers and stakeholders.
  • Triage, debug, track, and resolve product or system issues affecting hardware, networks, services, and operational quality.
  • Design and implement networking features for AI/ML workloads on Google Distributed Cloud platforms.
  • Build virtualization solutions for container and virtual-machine workloads running on Kubernetes.
  • Design and develop hybrid- and multi-cloud network connectivity involving data-plane and control-plane components.
  • Help external customers resolve production issues in their clusters.
  • Collaborate with product and networking leadership to define and refine Kubernetes Networking strategy and roadmap.
  • Engage with the open-source community to influence the direction of Kubernetes networking.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • At least 5 years of software development experience with Go, C, or Python.
  • At least 5 years of experience with network architectures, protocols, and technologies, including TCP/IP and BGP.
  • At least 5 years of experience with network design, implementation, and troubleshooting.
  • At least 3 years of experience developing large-scale infrastructure, distributed systems, or networks, or working with compute technologies, storage, or hardware architecture.
  • Experience with cloud compute platforms such as Kubernetes and Cloud Functions.
  • Preferred: master’s degree or PhD in Computer Science or a related technical field.
  • Preferred: 5 years of experience with data structures and algorithms.
  • Preferred: experience with cloud environments and familiarity with Linux kernel compute, networking, and storage modules, CPU scheduling, resource allocation, cgroups, RTOS, and RCU.
  • Preferred: knowledge of IPv4, IPv6, iptables, L4/L7 load balancing, DNS, and kernel-level networking components on Linux and optionally Windows.

Benefits

  • US base pay is listed as $174000 - $252000, plus a 15% bonus target, equity, and benefits.
