Responsibilities
- Define and execute technical strategy for retail technology in collaboration with senior leadership.
- Design, implement, and deliver cross-functional solutions for complex infrastructure and platform problems.
- Provide technical leadership for system architecture, design, development, deployment, adoption, and integration across multiple systems.
- Analyze architectural tradeoffs involving stability, scalability, security, and cost-effectiveness.
- Drive root cause analysis and resolution of complex system issues and critical production outages.
- Implement robust unit, integration, regression, and automated testing strategies.
- Monitor and optimize application performance and maintain dashboards, runbooks, alerts, documentation, tests, and code quality.
- Promote modern software practices, open-source adoption, structured problem solving, and engineering best practices.
- Review source code and high-level and low-level designs, mentor junior engineers, and contribute production code.
Requirements
- At least 10 years of experience in software development or a related field.
- At least 8 years of experience across frontend technologies, middleware including microservices and APIs, database technologies, or DevOps.
- At least 8 years of experience implementing solutions through software development life cycles.
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer information systems, or a related field, or equivalent work experience in lieu of the degree.
- Experience managing infrastructure-related technologies such as Kubernetes, operating systems, virtualization, and CI/CD platforms and building software platforms on infrastructure systems.
- Preferred: master's degree in computer science, CIS, or a related field.
- Preferred: 8 years working with defect or incident tracking software and application and integration middleware.
- Preferred: 8 years working with four or more areas including CI/CD tools, frontend technologies, middleware, database technologies, or DevOps.
- Preferred: 8 years in systems analysis, including defining technical requirements and performing high-level design for complex solutions.
- Preferred: 6 years working with an IT Infrastructure Library framework and 6 years leading teams, with or without direct reports.
