Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and implement backend services and web applications.
- Write clean, maintainable, well-tested code and participate in code reviews.
- Collaborate with frontend developers to integrate backend services with UI components.
- Troubleshoot, debug, and optimize application performance.
- Maintain and improve existing systems for stability, scalability, and reliability.
- Participate in technical design discussions and collaborate with engineers, architects, product owners, QA, and other developers.
- Break down user stories into technical tasks and deliver them within agreed timelines.
- Communicate technical concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Continuously develop technical expertise and stay current with modern technologies and engineering practices.
Requirements
- Strong Java fundamentals, including collections, concurrency, and memory management; Java 21 is preferred.
- Solid experience with Spring Framework 4+ and Spring Boot 3.x.
- Experience building and consuming REST APIs.
- Good knowledge of React 17 and backend-service integration.
- Strong understanding of web application architecture and client-server communication.
- Experience with SQL and relational databases such as PostgreSQL.
- Proficiency with Git and Maven or Gradle.
- Strong focus on clean code, unit testing, and code reviews.
- Familiarity with Agile development practices and Linux/Unix environments.
- Experience with JSF/JSP applications, legacy UI technologies, modern frontend practices, component-based architectures, CI/CD pipelines, testing practices, Docker, or distributed systems is desirable.
- Knowledge of financial systems or trading platforms is a plus.
- BS/MS in Computer Science or an equivalent Software Engineering qualification.
- Currently reside in the UK and be available to start within eight weeks of receiving an offer.
