Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain ARM-based embedded Linux and DSP-based uClinux firmware in C/C++ for modular optical test cassettes.
- Implement SCPI command handlers and real-time signal-processing pipelines using FFT, DSP, and SIMD optimizations.
- Interface firmware with FPGA co-processors through memory-mapped registers, SPI, and PCIe, including maintenance of the MAP platform Verilog bridge FPGA.
- Develop bridge-board and power-management microcontroller firmware for FPGA programming, card detection, power sequencing, and watchdog functions.
- Customize the Linux kernel and device tree, develop drivers and system services, and debug I2C, display, IRQ, and power-management issues.
- Work with hardware engineers on board bring-up, schematic review, and signal-integrity debugging.
- Support software, manufacturing, calibration, production testing, and factory provisioning activities.
- Use AI-augmented development workflows for firmware development, debugging, analysis, and unit testing.
Requirements
- BS or MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
- At least 7 years of embedded firmware development experience.
- Strong C and C++ skills for bare-metal and Linux embedded systems.
- Hands-on experience with ARM and/or DSP architectures and FPGA interfacing.
- Experience with I2C, SPI, UART, USB, embedded Linux, kernel configuration, device trees, cross-compilation, and driver development.
- Proficiency with JTAG, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and serial consoles, plus familiarity with Git and CI/CD build systems.
- Preferred qualifications include DSP and real-time signal processing, Xilinx Zynq or similar ARM-FPGA SoCs, AVR microcontrollers, SCPI, optical test instrumentation, PCIe bridge design, RTOS concepts, Docker, Buildroot, Yocto, Debian packaging, systemd, and AI-augmented development tools.
