Responsibilities

Build and optimize backend microservices using Node.js, Express, NATS, Redis, MySQL, and Elasticsearch on AWS.
Develop and support data-intensive, real-time systems that ingest telemetry at scale.
Contribute to frontend development using React.
Influence architectural decisions and technical direction across the platform.
Improve reliability through automated testing, CI/CD, monitoring, and observability.
Collaborate in a high-trust, engineering-focused team.

4–5 years of experience in software development.
Strong backend development experience.
Experience with SQL and NoSQL systems, including MySQL, Elasticsearch, and Redis.
Experience building microservices and event-driven systems.
Comfort with AWS, Docker, CI/CD pipelines, and modern cloud tooling.
Ability to design and reason about complex system architectures.
Curiosity, ownership, willingness to learn unfamiliar areas, and strong communication and collaboration skills.
Preferred: proficiency in JavaScript and advanced React experience.
Preferred: background in IoT, telematics, or large-scale distributed systems.

Hybrid work model requiring 4 days per week in the Ottawa office and 1 day working from home.
40 scheduled hours per week.
