Responsibilities

  • Engage Harvard FAS faculty, researchers, and staff to identify AI opportunities, define outcomes, and frame problem statements.
  • Lead requirements gathering, tool selection, solution architecture, rapid prototyping, and stakeholder alignment.
  • Partner with the AI Solutions Engineer to produce working software and contribute to implementation, testing, demonstrations, and production transition.
  • Assess solution sustainability, including cost, security, maintenance, service-owner capacity, readiness, and acceptance criteria.
  • Own relationships with security, privacy, accessibility, data-governance, and research-computing stakeholders and secure required approvals.
  • Document architectures, decisions, and trade-offs for maintainability and future extension.
  • Track the evolving AI landscape and provide evidence-based recommendations on readiness, capability, risk, cost, and fit.
  • Partner with HUIT’s AI Innovation team to evaluate emerging capabilities and lead user-value prototyping.

Requirements

  • Minimum of seven years of post-secondary education or relevant work experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in software development or solutions architecture.
  • 2+ years of hands-on experience with AI/ML platforms, LLMs, or applied AI tooling.
  • Proficiency with AI/ML frameworks and APIs, including LLM integration, retrieval/grounding, prompt design, and evaluation.
  • Experience rapidly prototyping through spec-driven development and agentic coding tools.
  • Strong communication, analytical reasoning, systems thinking, writing, and stakeholder-alignment skills across technical and executive audiences.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
