Responsibilities

  • Interface with customers, product management, and hardware engineers to define network systems features.
  • Architect, design, develop, and maintain software features using C, C++, and Python.
  • Design software control interfaces and hardware device drivers for switches, routers, and other hardware components.
  • Build automated tests and test infrastructure, debug issues, and improve scalability and performance.
  • Collaborate with hardware and manufacturing teams to bring new hardware to market.
  • Analyze and resolve problems found in customer networks and system testing.
  • Provide technical leadership across features, projects, and tools.
  • Mentor new and junior software engineers.

Requirements

  • BS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Engineering with 8 years of experience; MS with 6 years; PhD with 3 years; or equivalent work experience.
  • Expert knowledge of C or C++ and Python.
  • Knowledge of UNIX or Linux.
  • Hands-on experience designing and developing hardware device drivers and/or system-management utilities.
  • Understanding of IP networking and/or distributed systems is a plus.
  • Experience with low-level hardware components is a plus.
  • Applied understanding of software engineering principles and strong software troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to independently design and implement solutions and work in small teams.

Benefits

  • Base pay range of $120,000 to $195,000 across Canada, varying by work location.
