Base Salary
$60k - $140k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design, prototype, and review core services and integrations using Java and the JVM ecosystem.
- Architect and guide large-scale enterprise applications for reliability, performance, maintainability, and high availability.
- Translate business requirements into solution architectures, technical specifications, implementation plans, and architecture documentation.
- Define architecture standards, patterns, best practices, integration approaches, and technology recommendations.
- Design integrations using APIs, messaging, event-driven patterns, and data synchronization.
- Ensure security, scalability, observability, resilience, and disaster recovery requirements are addressed.
- Collaborate with DevOps and SRE teams on deployment architecture, CI/CD support, and operational readiness.
- Lead architecture and design reviews, mentor engineers, provide technical guidance, and support post-release delivery.
- Identify technical risks and dependencies, develop mitigation plans, and drive resolution with stakeholders.
Requirements
- Strong proficiency in Java and the JVM ecosystem, including Spring or Spring Boot, performance tuning, and troubleshooting.
- Experience developing and supporting large enterprise applications with high availability and complex integrations.
- Experience producing solution diagrams, interface contracts, sequence diagrams, and design documentation.
- Understanding of distributed systems concepts including concurrency, caching, eventual consistency, and resiliency patterns.
- Experience with relational databases and SQL, including data modeling and query optimization.
- Knowledge of document-based databases such as MongoDB or Couchbase, including data modeling and query patterns.
- Ability to write clean, documented, and tested code and take features through testing and completion.
- Preferred experience with Azure, AWS, or GCP and cloud-native architectures.
- Preferred experience with Docker, Kubernetes, messaging, event-driven design, identity and access management, application security, threat modeling, and observability tooling.
- Preferred familiarity with Office 365, Okta, and other single sign-on identity providers.
- Strong communication skills and ability to explain technical trade-offs to technical and non-technical audiences.
