Responsibilities
- Lead the technical design and development of scalable backend applications and platforms.
- Architect high-performance, resilient, and low-latency distributed services for retail and e-commerce experiences.
- Promote adoption of technologies that advance and evolve the product.
- Address system scalability, reliability, service-level agreements, and application monitoring.
- Lead code reviews and uphold standards for code quality, testing, observability, and performance.
- Resolve application issues and SLA violations quickly and efficiently.
- Mentor engineers and influence architectural decisions across cross-functional teams.
- Deliver complex backend initiatives autonomously while collaborating with Product Managers and other stakeholders.
Requirements
- Degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent work experience, with 7+ years of professional software development experience.
- Demonstrated experience building and scaling distributed systems or web-scale backend applications in production.
- Expertise in Golang, Python, or C# and their ecosystems.
- Mastery of domain modeling, system design, and data architecture patterns for high-performance distributed systems.
- Proficiency with cloud technologies, particularly AWS, distributed systems, and service-oriented architectures.
- Understanding of backend data pipelines, API lifecycle management, and observability frameworks.
- Experience delivering complex software projects with substantial autonomy and mentoring others.
- Strong communication skills and ability to translate technical concepts for cross-functional stakeholders.
- Experience with AWS services such as OpenSearch/Elasticsearch, SageMaker, Personalize, or Bedrock is preferred.
- Background in machine learning engineering, including model training, evaluation, and deployment pipelines, is preferred.
- Experience with vector databases, semantic search, real-time streaming, event-driven architectures, search, recommendation, personalization, feature engineering, or model serving is preferred.
- Must not be on the Office of Inspector General's List of Excluded Individuals/Entities (LEIE).
