Responsibilities
- Code, unit test, and build high-performance scalable applications and platform tooling for cloud data warehousing and large-scale data processing.
- Develop automation, self-service tooling, and platform services for internal data and analytics customers.
- Maintain and regularly update code to improve platform reliability, cost efficiency, and query performance at scale.
- Analyze and test programs and products before launch to support reliable performance across demanding data workloads.
- Troubleshoot coding and data pipeline problems quickly and efficiently.
- Develop monitoring and access-control programs that support data security, governance, and responsible sharing of sensitive information.
- Improve platform automation and overall system effectiveness while following company policies and standards.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or a related area plus 2 years of software engineering experience, or 4 years of software engineering experience.
- 5.5+ years of object-oriented programming experience in Java or Python.
- Strong computer systems fundamentals, data structures and algorithms, and problem-solving skills.
- Hands-on experience building web-based services or applications with RESTful Web Services, Spring or Spring Boot, and messaging systems such as Kafka or Pub/Sub.
- Working knowledge of Google Cloud data platforms including BigQuery, BigLake, Dataproc, and Cloud Composer.
- Strong SQL skills, including BigQuery SQL, partitioning and clustering strategies, and query performance tuning.
- Experience with systems design and distributed systems, including scalability and fault tolerance for large-scale data platforms.
- Exposure to SQL and NoSQL data stores such as Cassandra, Elasticsearch, and MongoDB.
- Exposure to cloud infrastructure, primarily GCP, with Azure or AWS knowledge considered a plus.
- Exposure to build, CI/CD, and deployment pipelines and technologies such as Kubernetes, Docker, Jenkins, and Terraform.
- A master’s degree in a related technical field and knowledge of WCAG 2.2 AA, assistive technologies, and digital accessibility practices are preferred.
