Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and evolve the database tooling platform and self-service deployment model.
  • Design reliable, scalable, and maintainable software and tooling architecture for database services.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to understand requirements and support their database technology needs.
  • Own features, components, and tooling; contribute to design and code reviews.
  • Support customer-facing teams during feature rollouts and provide technical support and consultancy.
  • Mentor engineers on database tooling development and integration practices.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of software engineering experience, including work in a critical production service environment.
  • Strong development skills and knowledge of multiple programming languages, specifically Python.
  • Experience designing and building tooling for other engineers and evaluating well-designed APIs and tools.
  • Experience with database design, including MySQL and NoSQL databases.
  • Experience with container orchestration such as Kubernetes.
  • Understanding of networking protocols including TCP, HTTP, and TLS.
  • Ability to analyze requirements, make design decisions, investigate problems, learn technologies, and complete complex work with minimal direction.
  • Preferred experience with Golang, backend services, RESTful APIs, Linux, open-source technologies, continuous integration, agile methodologies, and large-scale services.
