Base Salary
$156k - $263k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and own backend services and APIs for self-service cloud account provisioning, networking, IAM, and policy capabilities.
- Convert manual cloud operations and runbooks into safe-by-default APIs, controls, automation, and reusable infrastructure products.
- Partner with internal engineering teams as platform customers, shaping interfaces, paved paths, and the product roadmap from feedback and usage data.
- Design for observability, SLOs, self-healing, and production reliability while participating in on-call support.
- Influence Platform Engineering’s approach to public cloud enablement and use AI-assisted and agentic tooling to accelerate engineering and operations.
Requirements
- 6+ years of professional software engineering experience building and operating backend or platform services in production.
- Strong distributed-systems and API-platform design skills, with practical experience in simplicity, resiliency, and observability.
- Production experience with Golang or Python preferred, or another modern programming language, plus testing, code review, and debugging experience.
- Strong experience with at least one public cloud provider, preferably AWS, including VPCs, subnets, routing, load balancers, security groups, IAM, compute, and storage.
- Experience with infrastructure-as-code such as Terraform, including reusable and tested configurations, safe change review, and drift management.
- Working knowledge of cloud security fundamentals including IAM, network segmentation, encryption, and policy enforcement in multi-account environments.
- Hands-on experience designing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines such as GitLab Pipelines, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or Argo.
- Preferred experience with internal platforms or developer tooling, platform-as-product development, service-to-service networking, service mesh, workload identity, rate limiting, and Linux systems and networking.
Benefits
- Remote work from a physical location of choice within the United States, with limited exceptions.
- Base salary range varies by location: $164,400.00-$262,600.00 annually in certain listed states and $156,200.00-$249,400.00 annually in another listed group of states.
- Eligible for equity awards based on experience, performance, and location.
