Base Salary
$320k - $485k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and own backend services and infrastructure serving Claude across multiple cloud service providers.
- Work with inference, product API, systems, and security teams and cloud partners to launch serving stacks, resolve operational issues, and influence provider roadmaps.
- Build validation and deployment pipelines that reliably ship new model versions across cloud platforms.
- Design cross-cloud interfaces and tooling abstractions that reduce platform complexity and improve inference cost efficiency.
- Contribute to capacity planning, autoscaling, and workload routing across accelerators, regions, and providers.
- Analyze observability data to identify performance bottlenecks, cost anomalies, and regressions and drive remediation.
Requirements
- Significant software engineering experience with high-performance, large-scale distributed systems serving millions of users.
- Experience building or operating services on AWS, GCP, or Azure, with exposure to Kubernetes, Infrastructure as Code, or container orchestration.
- Curiosity about LLM serving; prior inference or machine learning experience is not required.
- Experience collaborating with internal teams and external partners to align goals and deliver impact.
- Ability to learn new technologies, hardware platforms, and provider ecosystems quickly.
- High autonomy and end-to-end ownership of problems.
- Preferred: experience scaling infrastructure or products across multiple cloud service providers.
- Preferred: hands-on capacity management, cost optimization, or resource planning at scale across heterogeneous environments.
- Preferred: understanding of multi-region deployments, geographic routing, and global traffic management.
- Preferred: proficiency in Python or Rust.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience in a relevant field.
