Principal Cloud Engineer - Clearing Risk

Responsibilities
- Design and implement cloud solutions for the Clearing Risk Platform within Markets technology.
- Work with Architecture to realize the cloud strategy and vision.
- Ensure engineering designs and processes follow established standards and provide compliance reporting.
- Lead technical documentation, best practices, standards, and processes through the Solution Engineering Guild.
- Provide expert guidance on microservices, continuous delivery, multi-cloud, data engineering, and DevSecOps practices.
- Plan, design, develop, enhance, and document system features in a cross-functional team.
- Review work to ensure features meet functional and non-functional requirements.
- Collaborate with non-technical stakeholders to validate that solutions meet their needs.
- Mentor and guide the team while improving system efficiency, stability, availability, monitoring, and delivery quality.
Requirements
- Experience delivering programs of work in a complex agile environment.
- Experience leading end-to-end cloud implementations in complex environments.
- Senior cloud engineering experience across public, private, and hybrid cloud environments.
- Design and development experience with one or more of GCP, AWS, and VMware.
- Understanding of multi-cloud environments, multitenancy, and security implications.
- Knowledge of IaaS, PaaS, SaaS, enterprise networking, and cloud-native solutions.
- Experience with cloud infrastructure automation and Terraform.
- Experience with cloud deployment and orchestration technologies at scale, including service discovery, deployments, monitoring, scheduling, and load balancing.
- Knowledge of containerisation and experience handling complex and semi-structured data such as JSON and XML.
- Experience with design governance and ownership of end-to-end software design across large programs of work.
- Scripting skills in Shell, Perl, and Python.
- Preferred qualifications include AWS or GCP cloud engineering, DevOps, or architecture certifications.
- Preferred experience includes CI/CD tools such as GoCD, GitLab, Cloud Build, or Code Build; scalable cloud systems; cloud workload migration; Linux; Shell scripting; Gradle; Java 8+; Spring Boot 2.7+; Docker-based services; and the AWS Well-Architected Framework.
- Candidates must be legally authorized to work in Australia permanently without restrictions.
