Responsibilities
- Architect and evolve scalable, performant customer-facing web platforms.
- Build AI-driven interfaces and intelligent benefits shopping experiences.
- Design, build, and maintain shared services and product workflows across the stack.
- Write high-quality, well-tested code and use AI-powered tools to improve development and reliability.
- Mentor and support engineers while establishing AI-native design patterns and best practices.
- Partner with Marketing, Sales, Operations, and leadership to translate business needs into technical solutions.
- Influence the technical roadmap for the Benefits Advisory platform and align work with Gusto’s AI-native strategy.
Requirements
- 8+ years of experience building scalable full-stack web applications.
- Expertise in frontend development with React and TypeScript, plus backend API development, data modeling, and database schema design.
- Extensive experience building AI interfaces, iterating on prompts, and maintaining high-quality evaluations.
- Extensive experience applying AI tools to full-stack development, code quality, intelligent user experiences, and AI-driven personalization.
- Deep experience with CI/CD and observability best practices.
- Ability to partner with technical Engineering and AI/Data teams as well as business Sales and Operations teams.
- Experience enabling productivity across large engineering organizations and balancing pragmatic execution with long-term architectural thinking.
- Preferred experience with React, Ruby on Rails, robust recommendation systems, and AI architecture and scalability for reliable platform services.
