Responsibilities
- Architect and implement production-grade Java microservices using clean architecture and engineering best practices.
- Design, build, operate, and optimize high-throughput streaming and batch data pipelines using GCP Dataflow and Apache Beam.
- Use GCP services including Pub/Sub, Dataflow, BigQuery, Cloud Storage, IAM, VPC, and Compute/GKE to deploy and operate services.
- Design and optimize data platforms using Apache Spark and other streaming and batch-processing technologies.
- Define CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure-as-code patterns, and mentor engineers on automation.
- Lead testing strategy across unit, integration, and end-to-end testing, including static analysis and continuous improvement.
- Perform database schema design, indexing, query optimization, performance tuning, backup and replication planning, and stored-procedure development for PostgreSQL and Oracle.
- Drive architecture decisions, technical-debt reduction, performance tuning, and cross-team technical initiatives.
- Mentor engineers and influence cross-functional teams.
- Apply AI tools responsibly to improve productivity and solve business problems.
Requirements
- At least 9 years of professional software engineering experience with deep Java expertise and technical leadership in large systems.
- At least 9 years of prior experience in a global banking, insurance, or financial organization.
- Proven experience designing and operating microservices architectures at scale.
- Hands-on experience with GCP services such as Pub/Sub, Dataflow, BigQuery, Cloud Storage, and Compute/GKE.
- Experience building streaming and batch data pipelines and handling large-volume data.
- Practical experience with PostgreSQL and Oracle, including schema design, indexing, query optimization, performance tuning, backup/replication strategies, and stored procedures using PL/pgSQL or PL/SQL.
- Strong knowledge of distributed systems, concurrency, system design, and performance tuning.
- Experience with Docker, Kubernetes/GKE, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure-as-code.
- Strong testing discipline, TDD/BDD experience, and automated test frameworks.
- Excellent verbal and written communication, mentoring ability, analytical thinking, organizational skills, and cross-functional influence.
- Degree in Computer Science, Statistics, or a relevant field.
- Preferred experience authoring Java Apache Beam pipelines and running them on Dataflow.
- Preferred experience with Apache Spark, event-driven design, exactly-once semantics, windowing, and watermarks.
- Preferred experience migrating or integrating Oracle and PostgreSQL using tools or approaches such as pg_dump/pg_restore, ora2pg, logical replication, or heterogeneous replication.
- Preferred experience with Bigtable, Spanner, Redis, or other NoSQL stores.
- Knowledge of cloud security patterns, data governance, GDPR/PII considerations, JVM tuning, garbage collection, and profiling tools.
- Ability to use AI tools productively while applying critical judgment for responsible and ethical use of data and AI outputs.
