Senior Software Engineer – Platform & API Integration

Base Salary

$80k - $128k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Lead IPaC application architecture updates to support integration of new marine and anadromous species data.
  • Design and implement API integrations between the consultation application and cloud data infrastructure.
  • Implement species display functionality, including habitat designations, listing status, and regulatory requirements.
  • Develop joint-agency programmatic consultation handling logic.
  • Support demo environment maintenance, interoperability testing, and resolution of application-layer defects.
  • Deliver application-layer components for the IPaC UI and Logic Update Package, including API connections and consultation workflows.
  • Implement platform integration updates for DKey content and Consultation Package Builder workflows.
  • Execute production cutover deployment activities according to the approved migration playbook.
  • Document application maintenance procedures and incident response protocols in final operational playbooks.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and 8 years of professional experience, master’s degree and 6 years, associate degree and 10 years, or high school diploma/equivalent and 12 years.
  • U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.
  • Extensive software development experience focused on federal application integration.
  • Experience designing and implementing REST API integrations between federal applications and cloud data platforms.
  • Proficiency in Java, Python, or equivalent backend development languages.
  • Experience using Git or equivalent version control platforms for federal application code management and deployment.
  • Experience with federal software development standards and FedRAMP-compliant deployment.
  • Familiarity with Section 508/WCAG 2.0 accessibility requirements and federal IT governance frameworks.
  • Preferred experience with IPaC or similar federal environmental decision support systems, DKey systems, Databricks or cloud data lakehouse API integration, and tools such as Postman or SoapUI.
  • Preferred experience with Agile/iterative federal software development and DOI, FWS, or NOAA Fisheries IT environments.

  • Target base salary range of $80,000-$128,000 annually.
  • Employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus.
