Responsibilities
- Analyze COBOL, JCL, VSAM, DB2, CICS, and IMS applications to identify modernization opportunities, dependencies, complexity, and impacts.
- Document legacy architecture, data flows, batch schedules, integration points, system designs, migration runbooks, and AI pipeline configurations.
- Apply AI tools and agentic workflows for automated code analysis, refactoring, technical debt reduction, and code translation.
- Execute mainframe modernization through rehosting, refactoring, or rebuilding and help design target cloud-native architectures.
- Develop API integrations and microservices, including RESTful APIs, event-driven architectures, and legacy-system wrappers.
- Support migration to AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud and integrate modernized components with Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure-as-code, observability, and security practices.
- Provide project status updates covering modernization progress, risks, and deliverables while collaborating with technology leads, architects, business stakeholders, and cross-functional teams.
Requirements
- B.Tech, B.E., MCA, M.Tech, or equivalent degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- 5 to 9 years of hands-on experience with legacy mainframe systems, including COBOL, JCL, Assembler, CICS, DB2, IMS, and VSAM.
- Experience with data migration, integration, ETL processes, and at least one major cloud platform.
- Proficiency in Python and/or Java.
- Working knowledge of APIs, microservices architecture, Docker, and Kubernetes.
- Hands-on experience with AI tools, LLM API calls, prompt engineering, and context engineering for code analysis and modernization workflows.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, collaboration, documentation, and presentation skills.
- Cloud certifications such as AWS, Azure, or GCP; AI/ML certifications; mainframe-related certifications; and experience with Micro Focus, AWS Mainframe Modernization, or Azure Migrate are preferred.
