Responsibilities
- Develop cloud-native architecture for Royal Canadian Navy cloud component systems and the Synthetic Training Hub.
- Recommend or locate open-source and commercial Horizon or Synthetic Training Hub components that are available as containers or can be containerized.
- Create architectural, network traffic, firewall, authentication workflow, and security-control documentation.
- Develop infrastructure-as-code deployments for Navy organizational infrastructure, cloud component systems, and Synthetic Training Hub pipelines.
- Build TLA components from source when needed and develop TLA, Horizon, and Synthetic Training Hub containers for Kubernetes deployments and multi-user modeling and simulation scenarios.
- Design systems that can be sized, tuned, cost-optimized, and rapidly redeployed to meet performance, emergency, or changing mission requirements.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree from a Canadian university recognized by CICIC, or a recognized college technical diploma, in science, engineering, computer science, or mathematics.
- At least 10 years of progressive experience as a software developer.
- At least four years of recent experience as a software architect designing, developing, and deploying software systems.
- Experience deriving functional requirements, designing and developing complex software and IT architectures, and working across multiple projects.
- Experience working in Microsoft and Unix/Linux operating system environments.
- Experience integrating and testing software, maintaining software design documentation, and determining and implementing IT infrastructure.
- Cloud-native environment experience is strongly preferred.
- Must currently hold or be eligible to obtain and maintain Secret Level II Canadian Federal Government security clearance, plus VCR and Controlled Goods clearances.
- Consultants must hold Controlled Goods clearance and insurance.
