Base Salary
$173k - $286k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and implement critical functionality for telemetry agents and instrumentation libraries.
- Build scalable, maintainable, highly available, and real-time data collection or management services.
- Operate telemetry agents and Kubernetes workloads across large fleets, considering efficiency, host impact, reliability, and safe rollout.
- Instrument, collect, transform, and export logs, metrics, traces, and events.
- Collaborate with engineering, product, and design teams to deliver production functionality.
- Present technical work to peers, leadership, and broader engineering groups.
- Write understandable, testable code and continuously improve engineering practices.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science or an equivalent field, with 8+ years of software development experience.
- Experience building highly scalable, available, and real-time data management or data collection services.
- Deep experience building services on public clouds such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
- Strong software development experience in Linux/UNIX environments using Go, Java, or Python.
- Hands-on production experience with containers and Kubernetes, including DaemonSets or sidecars.
- Experience building and operating services with 99.99% production reliability.
- Strong distributed-systems fundamentals and effective written and verbal communication.
- Preferred experience with OpenTelemetry, telemetry pipelines, observability systems, Prometheus, Splunk, or Grafana.
- Preferred experience with eBPF, cAdvisor, kube-state-metrics, Kafka, Flink, Spark, Trino/Presto, Druid, Airflow, Spinnaker, Docker, Terraform, Spring, gRPC, and HTTP.
