Responsibilities
- Support, maintain, and develop online and batch mainframe programs for the Financial Management System.
- Develop new application components and enhancements in accordance with FISA and New York City development standards.
- Package code for deployment and coordinate implementation of software processes into staging and production environments.
- Troubleshoot production, non-production, job-flow, batch-cycle, and end-user application issues.
- Conduct technical reviews and formal evaluations of application architecture, technical solutions, development work, and vendor deliverables.
- Design and execute technical tests and support testing tracks in non-production environments.
- Review functional business designs for technical feasibility, performance, operability, maintainability, and completeness.
- Gather production-operation requirements and incorporate them into development-team products.
- Participate in a rotating nightly production-support and on-call schedule.
- Provide technical guidance and mentoring to other team members and collaborate with Operations, Business Units, Testing, and the Team Lead.
Requirements
- Strong experience with COBOL and COBOL II.
- Strong experience with JCL, JCL PROCS, IBM Utilities, SYNCSort, and File-AID.
- Strong experience with command-level CICS, DB2, SQL, VSAM, TSO/ISPF, and OS/MVS.
- Experience as a Mainframe Programmer Analyst on at least two full lifecycle projects involving the design and development of large-scale mainframe applications.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Good understanding of standard SDLC methodologies.
- Experience with DB2 utilities, SPUFI, and QMF is a plus.
- Background in accounting and/or budgeting applications is a plus.
- Ability to work independently and collaborate with financial systems, operations, business-unit, and testing teams.
