Base Salary
$189k - $331k/yr
Responsibilities
- Lead the architecture of the next generation global payroll calculation engine.
- Own complex features through design, specification, production deployment, and monitoring.
- Drive the team’s technical roadmap, including performance, reliability, and architectural improvements.
- Convert ambiguous technical challenges into actionable plans and scalable system designs.
- Build maintainable, extensible systems while ensuring data integrity across interdependent services.
- Mentor engineers, lead design reviews, and promote code quality, testing, and observability practices.
- Collaborate with Product Management, HRIS, and engineering leaders on platform-wide solutions.
Requirements
- 8+ years of professional software engineering experience with demonstrated technical leadership and organization-wide impact.
- Expertise building large-scale distributed backend systems.
- Strong proficiency in Python and Django is highly preferred.
- Experience managing complete project lifecycles and independently delivering successful launches from ambiguous requirements.
- Deep expertise in system architecture, data modeling, and core service design.
- Product sense and experience building robust systems for business-critical workflows.
- Excellent written and verbal communication of complex technical concepts.
- Experience with MongoDB or similar NoSQL databases is a strong plus.
