Base Salary
$138k - $185k/yr
Responsibilities
- Own end-to-end reliability for the ServiceNow platform, including incident response, SLOs, observability, automation, and performance engineering.
- Troubleshoot incidents, lead blameless post-mortems, and drive actions that prevent recurrence.
- Define and defend SLIs, SLOs, and error budgets while improving telemetry, monitoring, alerting, and performance testing reviews.
- Monitor platform and product performance metrics and partner with engineering on remediation.
- Deliver stability, resiliency, throughput, and performance improvements and support platform and vendor upgrades.
- Automate repetitive operational work to reduce toil and perform design reviews for platform and tenant implementations.
- Analyze ServiceNow instances across the stack to remediate resource contention and understand application behavior.
- Tune JVM memory allocation and garbage collection and optimize relational database performance through query refactoring and database tuning.
- Use authorized AI capabilities for incident triage, troubleshooting, post-incident analysis, and reliability-risk identification while validating recommendations before applying changes.
Requirements
- Formal training or certification in site reliability engineering concepts and 3+ years of applied experience.
- 10+ years in technical support, software development, performance load testing, or professional services.
- Proficiency in SRE principles, enterprise platform support, observability, and ServiceNow-relevant reliability practices.
- Proficiency in at least one programming language such as Python, Java/Spring Boot, or .NET.
- Scripting experience with one or more of JavaScript, Python, Perl, Unix shell, or Windows PowerShell.
- Experience debugging object-oriented code such as Java and strong understanding of web application stack components.
- Strong RDBMS experience with Oracle, MySQL, SQL Server, or PostgreSQL, including performance tuning.
- Experience with JVM performance tuning, memory and garbage-collection analysis, and troubleshooting complex systems.
- Working knowledge of authorized AI capabilities for SRE workflows, including validating recommendations and following data-sensitivity requirements.
- Preferred qualifications include ServiceNow CSA or higher, ServiceNow architecture exposure, cloud/SaaS experience, Java heap dump analysis, ITSM/ITIL/CMDB fundamentals, Linux/Unix or Windows Server administration, and browser/network troubleshooting tools.
