Base Salary

$79k - $210k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Develop and enhance C and C++ components for OCI’s virtual networking dataplane, including routing, network address translation, gateways, and security-policy enforcement.
  • Build scalable, multi-tenant packet-processing features and optimize CPU, memory, concurrency, latency, and throughput in production environments.
  • Use fast dataplane technologies such as DPDK, VirtIO, Linux networking, SR-IOV, SmartNICs, and userspace packet-processing frameworks.
  • Develop unit, integration, system, performance, scale, fault-injection, brownout, and recovery tests.
  • Design and implement fault-tolerant networking components with health checks, retries, timeouts, graceful draining, failover, and recovery mechanisms.
  • Support staged deployments, automated validation, monitoring, rollback, recovery procedures, and production operations.
  • Build metrics, alarms, dashboards, telemetry, canaries, operational health checks, diagnostic tools, and automation.
  • Participate in on-call rotation, incident response, root-cause analysis, corrective actions, design reviews, and code reviews.
  • Apply security and tenant-isolation practices and maintain automation and infrastructure-as-code for service development and operations.
  • Own assigned features through implementation, testing, deployment, production validation, and support.

Requirements

  • Experience with C/C++, systems programming, cloud networking, Linux, and high-performance dataplane technologies.
  • Ability to plan and deliver assigned work with limited supervision while identifying dependencies and risks.
  • Ability to independently troubleshoot standard and moderately complex issues using logs, metrics, traces, packet captures, tests, profilers, and debugging tools.
  • Ability to collaborate with networking, control-plane, infrastructure, security, and operations teams.
  • Ability to document technical decisions, communicate progress and blockers, and contribute to engineering standards and best practices.
  • Experience with or knowledge of DPDK, VirtIO, eBPF, XDP, SR-IOV, SmartNICs, or userspace packet-processing frameworks is especially valuable.
