Base Salary
$245k - $295k/yr
Responsibilities
- Own platform-wide performance engineering by establishing benchmarks, identifying systemic bottlenecks, and driving scalable solutions
- Set architectural standards for high availability, disaster recovery, graceful degradation, fault isolation, and long-term scale
- Drive operational excellence by reducing on-call noise, automating repetitive work, and creating shared frameworks and patterns
- Provide distributed-systems technical leadership across Control Plane, Storage & State, Edge & Agents, Data Pipeline, and Async & Metering domains
- Influence adjacent Compute, Managed Orchestration, and Networking teams on platform-level technical decisions
- Collaborate with product and engineering leadership on ambiguous scoping, quarterly roadmaps, incremental milestones, and business-aligned technical decisions
- Coach senior engineers and build a culture of collaboration, responsiveness, safety, and technical excellence
Requirements
- Deep hands-on expertise designing and operating distributed systems at scale, including sharding, replication, consensus, load balancing, and concurrency
- Proficiency in Go or another modern compiled language, with Go strongly preferred
- Proven staff-level or higher impact in performance engineering, including benchmarking, profiling, and resolving systemic bottlenecks
- Required customer-facing on-call experience and a track record of building runbooks, tuning alerts, and reducing operational noise
- Ability to influence technical decisions across organizational boundaries and resolve cross-team root causes
- Experience partnering with product and engineering leadership to scope ambiguous problems, plan incremental delivery, and connect technical decisions to business outcomes
- Experience mentoring senior engineers and creating systems that improve engineering effectiveness at scale
- Exemplary communication, ownership, accountability, responsiveness, and collaborative leadership
