Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain JIT and AOT hybrid compilation pipelines for PennyLane.
- Convert abstract algorithm descriptions into efficient and understandable software implementations.
- Conduct R&D supporting new hardware platforms, programming paradigms, and software tooling for quantum computing workloads.
- Participate in software specification, architecture, documentation, verification, validation, and quality assurance.
- Provide leadership in continuous integration, unit testing, documentation, code reviews, and software best practices.
- Benchmark systems and implement performance-oriented optimizations.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Physics, Computer Science, Math, Engineering, or a related field.
- At least 2 years of development experience with modern optimizing compilers across a variety of architectures.
- Strong knowledge of Python and C++.
- Experience with benchmarking and performance-oriented optimizations.
- Strong focus on testing and software quality.
- Preferred: experience with MLIR and/or LLVM and advanced compiler optimization techniques.
- Preferred: familiarity with automatic differentiation methods and frameworks including Autograd, Torch, TensorFlow, or JAX.
- Preferred: education or training in quantum computing through work experience, coursework, a thesis, or peer-reviewed publications.
- Preferred: experience developing toolkits, compilers, or runtime environments for heterogeneous architectures.
