Base Salary
$150k - $170k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design and scale backend data infrastructure using PostgreSQL data models, Kafka-driven event pipelines, and GraphQL APIs.
- Lead the design and integration of services and components for data and event processing.
- Own pipelines that deliver dataset snapshots into the data warehouse.
- Collaborate with product, scientific, clinical, platform, application, development, support, and external partner teams to translate requirements into integrations and services.
- Draft RFCs and lead complex feature discovery and technical design phases.
- Ensure data completeness, idempotency, correctness, and predictable behavior under partial failure.
- Improve operational robustness and usability through documentation, tools, and dashboards.
Requirements
- 5+ years of backend development experience, including at least 2 years focused on data platforms and backend infrastructure for data-centric applications.
- Strong SQL proficiency and production experience with PostgreSQL, including query tuning, schema design, indexes, and query plans.
- Hands-on experience with data streaming and event processing using Kafka or an equivalent such as RabbitMQ, Pulsar, or Amazon Kinesis.
- Proficiency in Julia or Python; Julia experience is preferred but not required.
- Experience deploying and operating services in containerized environments, with familiarity with Kubernetes and Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform or Helm.
- Experience with GraphQL and TypeScript/JavaScript, including Node.js.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in asynchronous, remote-friendly teams.
- A self-directed approach and a track record of succeeding in hybrid or fully remote teams.
