Responsibilities

  • Build and own production Rust infrastructure services, including reverse proxies, credential brokers, and log collectors.
  • Implement and verify authentication protocols and access-control enforcement in security-critical code.
  • Design infrastructure components covering module boundaries, memory budgets, streaming patterns, concurrency, and graceful shutdown.
  • Build distributed telemetry and log collection systems with tracing, metrics, and health endpoints.
  • Provide systems-level guidance through design reviews covering performance, streaming, caching, and resource constraints.
  • Drive technical direction, design documents, build-versus-buy decisions, and testing strategies while mentoring engineers.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of professional software engineering experience, including at least 3 years building performance-critical or security-critical systems.
  • Production Rust experience, including async Rust, multi-crate workspaces, and the tokio/hyper ecosystem.
  • Strong networking, memory-management, streaming, backpressure, concurrency, and resource-constraint fundamentals.
  • Experience with systems where correctness has security implications, including authentication protocols, input validation, and adversarial edge cases.
  • Experience deploying and operating services on Kubernetes, with familiarity with the operator pattern and Helm.
  • Experience with property-based testing, integration test harnesses, or fuzz testing.
  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Preferred: experience with S3-compatible storage protocols, request signing such as SigV4, observability or telemetry pipelines, reverse proxies, load balancers, service meshes, API gateways, performance profiling, benchmarking, P99 latency work, or Kubernetes operators.
