Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and maintain Heidi’s deterministic automation engine for interacting with EHRs without native integrations.
  • Build reliable UI-automation flows for accessibility-tree mapping, templated field entry, and structured write-back across web and desktop systems.
  • Implement patient-matching and validation logic so data is written to the correct patient record every time.
  • Prototype with AI-assisted development tools and harden successful automations into production-grade code.
  • Embed with health systems and IT teams during live rollouts to map workflows and close implementation gaps.
  • Engineer work queues, retries, idempotency, exception handling, instrumentation, and explainable failure behavior.
  • Harden automations against UI drift and edge cases while deciding when automation should be used instead of a native integration.
  • Own the tooling and documentation that enable engineers to extend the engine to additional EHRs.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated ability to build a tool, script, or automation that solved a real problem for real users, supported by a portfolio, GitHub, or demo.
  • Production experience with UI automation using Playwright, accessibility-tree frameworks such as FlaUI, or an RPA platform.
  • Python experience as a primary language; C# or TypeScript experience is a bonus.
  • Understanding of deterministic systems, including queues, retries, idempotency, and exception handling.
  • Experience working with brittle, undocumented, or legacy third-party interfaces.
  • Working fluency with LLM APIs and AI-assisted development, including shipped projects using these tools.
  • Knowledge of data and application security and strong awareness of safe patient-data handling.
  • Comfort working directly with customers and field teams during deployments.
  • Experience automating regulated, high-stakes systems such as payments, banking, or healthcare is preferred but not required.
  • Low-code-only RPA experience is not sufficient because the role focuses on building the underlying engine.

Benefits

  • Equity participation from day one.
  • Private medical and dental cover through Bupa, plus mental health, coaching, and wellbeing support through Sonder.
  • Paid global parental leave subject to eligibility.
  • Fertility support subject to eligibility.
  • Annual learning and development budget for courses, books, memberships, and conferences.
  • One-off home-office setup budget.
  • Recharge days after major milestones and busy periods.
  • Ability to work from anywhere for up to four weeks per year.
  • Clinical leave for eligible clinical roles.
  • Hybrid work environment with three days in the office.
