Responsibilities

  • Design and deliver Azure cost and usage data products, pipelines, allocation and showback models, anomaly detection, and reporting surfaces.
  • Own the Databricks cost and usage data platform, ingesting Azure Cost Management, reservation, Savings Plan, inventory, and tagging data into Delta Lake.
  • Build and maintain Power BI semantic models using DAX, composite and DirectQuery designs, TMDL, and XMLA.
  • Lead cloud cost optimization involving right-sizing, autoscaling, storage tiering, data transfer, egress, and orphaned resource cleanup.
  • Own the FinOps platform using Azure Functions, Bicep, managed identities, RBAC, GitHub Actions, monitoring, alerting, and incident response.
  • Create cost allocation guardrails, tagging policies, Azure Policy controls, budgets, exception reporting, and unit economics.
  • Support forecasting, budgeting, and variance analysis with Finance and advise product delivery teams on technical cost trade-offs.
  • Set technical direction, contribute to architecture decisions, conduct code and design reviews, and mentor engineers.
  • Experiment with GitHub Copilot and Claude Code to improve investigation, development, and reporting workflows.
  • Write tested production code and collaborate with Cyber Security on access, security, and compliance requirements.

Requirements

  • Strong hands-on Azure engineering experience, including infrastructure as code and running production services.
  • Production DevOps experience covering CI/CD, automated testing, safe environment promotion, monitoring, alerting, and incident response.
  • Strong production Python experience building and maintaining services or data products.
  • Experience building and maintaining robust Power BI semantic models and DAX measures.
  • Ability to take ownership across the full system lifecycle and collaborate effectively with engineering, finance, and product teams.
  • Preferred experience includes FinOps or cloud-cost management, Azure Cost Management exports, FOCUS, reservations, Savings Plans, Databricks, Delta Lake, KQL, TMDL, XMLA, PowerShell, cloud cost optimization, allocation/showback, or cost attribution.
