Responsibilities

  • Set technical direction and provide regional leadership for the India-based Markets Data Lake engineering team.
  • Mentor senior, staff, and developing engineers; establish engineering practices, career-development pathways, and local technical depth.
  • Own regional delivery of major platform initiatives and coordinate execution across global teams and time zones.
  • Architect data products, contracts, schemas, SLAs, ownership models, lifecycle controls, and interoperability standards for the data mesh.
  • Build self-service platform capabilities for publishing, cataloging, discovering, versioning, querying, and distributing data products.
  • Design federated computational governance and policy-as-code frameworks for security, quality, entitlements, retention, and compliance.
  • Own data classification, metadata management, lineage, data quality, retention, auditability, and reproducibility across data products.
  • Design fine-grained row- and column-level authorization, including ABAC, RBAC, policy-based access control, entitlement propagation, and least-privilege access.
  • Ensure natural-language-generated and raw SQL queries execute within the caller’s entitlement scope without bypasses.
  • Harden identity and access through enterprise identity-provider integration, OAuth2, token lifecycle management, secrets handling, and access auditing.
  • Lead design documents, RFCs, architecture reviews, and cross-team technical alignment.
  • Build hands-on reference implementations for critical governance and authorization capabilities and advise leaders on responsible AI adoption and controls.
  • Support interviewing, hiring, onboarding, and raising the engineering bar across the India hub.

Requirements

  • Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts and 10+ years of applied experience.
  • Significant experience architecting large-scale data platforms and providing regional or site technical leadership.
  • Deep expertise in data governance and authorization at scale, including row- and column-level security, ABAC, RBAC, policy-based access control, data classification, lineage, and audit.
  • Experience designing secure, governed cloud data platforms with identity and OAuth2 token-based authorization in an engine-agnostic manner.
  • Experience with data mesh or federated data platforms, data products, data contracts, and federated or computational governance.
  • Experience designing and scaling agentic AI-enabled development patterns with human-in-the-loop validation, traceability, auditability, and secure handling of sensitive data.
  • Strong understanding of responsible AI, security, resiliency, data sensitivity, and risk-based governance.
  • Strong SQL, data modeling, and semantic or metrics-layer experience.
  • Proficiency in a primary backend language such as Python, Java, Go, or a similar language, plus policy-as-code tooling.
  • Excellent communication, design-document, stakeholder-management, and cross-time-zone collaboration skills.
  • Preferred experience in capital markets or financial-services data and related regulatory and privacy requirements.
  • Preferred experience building engineering teams in a global delivery or India hub model.
  • Preferred familiarity with data catalogs, lineage, governance tools, natural-language or LLM-agent data access through MCP, and entitlement-safe SQL generation.
  • Preferred familiarity with Iceberg, Delta, Hudi, Kafka, Spark, Flink, Terraform, and CI/CD policy gates.
