Base Salary
$120k - $180k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design and build high-performance, secure, and well-documented UIs and APIs for AI-driven applications.
- Develop database schemas and manage SQL, NoSQL, vector, and other data systems for performance and scalability.
- Implement front-end and backend services with a focus on performance, maintainability, and reliability.
- Diagnose bottlenecks and optimize systems for high availability and low-latency performance at scale.
- Use AWS, Kubernetes, and modern DevOps practices to build and deploy production-grade systems.
- Integrate data pipelines, APIs, and cloud infrastructure into scientific workflows with ML researchers, engineers, and scientists.
- Support orchestration of lab workflows, instrument integrations, bidirectional data transfer, and interfaces used by AI scientists and laboratory operators.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- 2–5 years of experience building and deploying large-scale production systems, with strong backend expertise.
- Full-stack web development experience with React, TypeScript, Tailwind, FastAPI, SQL/NoSQL, Python, and Pydantic.
- Hands-on experience using AI coding assistants is required.
- Demonstrated cross-functional communication and collaboration with scientists, data engineers, and product teams.
- Proven ability to own complex backend challenges and balance scalability, performance, and maintainability.
- Exposure to laboratory software for life sciences, material sciences, or related fields is preferred.
- Experience with laboratory devices, robotics, or hardware drivers is preferred.
- Experience with Airflow, Prefect, Temporal, or Dagster is preferred.
- Hands-on AWS experience and knowledge of Kubernetes, containerization, Terraform, CloudFormation, and GitHub Actions are preferred.
