Responsibilities
- Develop solutions for complex instrumentation and test automation problems, primarily supporting calibration processes.
- Develop, integrate, test, build, and deploy automated test software for measurement and test instruments.
- Analyze test requirements, instrument characteristics, communication needs, and automated test processes.
- Interface with hardware systems and equipment, troubleshoot test environments, and perform hardware-software and system integration.
- Produce documentation throughout the software development life cycle.
- Debug and resolve complex problems using test benches and simulations.
- Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with customers, stakeholders, peers, and partners.
- Contribute to the selection, tailoring, and deployment of processes, tools, metrics, and lean-process improvements.
- Work with global teams and Boeing personnel across flexible hours and time zones.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, engineering technology, computer science, mechanical, civil, aerospace/aeronautical, materials science, or a directly related equivalent qualification.
- Typically 4 to 8 years of related work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Understanding of complex architectures, requirements, algorithms, interfaces, and avionics system designs.
- Experience with hardware-in-the-loop architecture, plant model creation, test benches, and simulations.
- Hands-on experience with NI LabVIEW, LabVIEW Real-Time, and LabVIEW FPGA.
- Experience using Python, C, C#, or Visual Basic for instrument communication.
- Experience with hardware-software integration and automated test equipment.
- Knowledge of test discipline, test strategy, test authoring, test review, and measurement and test equipment.
- Experience or knowledge of RS-422, RS-232, TCP/IP, Ethernet, UDP, and avionics protocols including ARINC 429, AFDX, and ARINC 653.
- Experience managing software code repositories and continuous integration/deployment is highly desirable.
- Preferred qualifications include a bachelor’s or master’s degree in instrumentation, electrical, or electronics engineering.
- Awareness of AS9100, ISO 9001, and ISO 17025 standards is preferred.
- Strong written and verbal communication, collaboration, self-motivation, flexibility, and ability to work across cultures and time zones.
