Responsibilities
- Design scalable and resilient payment solutions with engineering teams.
- Shape and deliver payments transformation programmes for financial-services clients.
- Modernise core payment platforms and enable new digital payment capabilities.
- Define technology strategies, roadmaps, and legacy-migration approaches.
- Advise senior stakeholders on regulatory, operational, technology, and investment decisions.
- Lead high-performing teams and mentor junior technologists.
- Contribute thought leadership and community engagement to the Technology and Engineering Practice.
- Support new client opportunities and lead relevant pre-sales engagements.
Requirements
- Proven experience designing or modernising domestic, international, real-time, on-us, and card-based payment platforms, including A2A flows and vendors such as Form3.
- Deep knowledge of Faster Payments, Bacs, CHAPS, SWIFT, SEPA, card schemes, Open Banking services, and Confirmation of Payee.
- Experience architecting highly available, resilient, high-volume systems using modern messaging standards such as ISO 20022.
- Experience across payments and other financial-services or banking architecture domains.
- Experience applying distributed architecture patterns across hybrid environments.
- Experience delivering payments transformation strategies, roadmaps, legacy-format migrations, and regulatory change initiatives.
- Ability to build trusted senior relationships and influence strategic technology and investment decisions.
- Experience working in agile delivery models and applying recognised architecture frameworks such as TOGAF and Domain-Driven Design.
- Senior consulting experience in payments transformation is beneficial.
- Experience leading pre-sales engagements, proposals, and commercial estimates is beneficial.
- Awareness of digital wallets, tokenisation, embedded finance, and AI-driven fraud or risk capabilities is beneficial.
- Knowledge of AML controls, payment-fraud prevention, and payment-ecosystem security is beneficial.
- Exposure to international payment ecosystems such as US ACH, RTP, or FedNow is beneficial.
- Relevant technology, architecture, framework, or AWS certifications are beneficial.
