Base Salary
$244k - $305k/yr
Responsibilities
- Own the end-to-end system design vision and architectural direction for an organization of nearly 30 compliance engineers across multiple teams
- Drive the transition from an account-centric to customer-centric model for identity, risk, and enforcement
- Lead technical strategy for expanded KYC capabilities, including business onboarding, third-party APIs, and third-party payee verification
- Design adaptable systems for evolving digital identity standards, government-issued credentials, privacy regulations, and unforeseen regulatory mandates
- Align technical leaders across organizations on shared capabilities and cohesive system design while reducing duplication and technical debt
- Partner with Product, Design, Policy, Legal, Operations, and engineering stakeholders to define and ship features
- Lead and mentor engineers inside and outside the immediate team
- Drive systemic improvements that streamline development, reduce toil, and improve technical quality and operational excellence
Requirements
- 15+ years of technical experience and 10+ years of relevant industry experience in a fast-paced technology environment
- Knowledge of AML, KYC, and sanctions screening standards, with experience designing and implementing controls at scale
- Track record of setting technical direction and architectural strategy for a large engineering organization
- Experience designing cohesive, reusable, and maintainable systems spanning multiple teams and domains
- Strong communication, problem-solving, stakeholder influence, and technical leadership skills
- Experience operating and leading on-call for production systems at scale
- Hands-on experience leading large project teams and making high-stakes design tradeoffs
- BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent work experience
- Proficiency in one or more backend server languages such as Java, Ruby, Go, or C++
- Deep understanding of architectural patterns for high-scale web and data applications
- Ability to build long-term platforms and make decisions with financial and legal implications
