Base Salary
$329k - $412k/yr
Responsibilities
- Partner with the CTO and SVP of Engineering to shape and implement Fastly’s technical direction.
- Improve mechanisms for making durable architectural decisions.
- Serve as a trusted technical advisor to help teams navigate complex technical problems.
- Mentor senior engineers and technical leaders to enhance their influence and judgment.
- Represent the CTO’s technical perspective in architecture reviews and product decisions.
- Support strategic conversations requiring deep technical credibility.
- Identify emerging technologies to enhance customer experience and competitive position.
- Evangelize Fastly externally through conferences and open source contributions.
Requirements
- Extensive experience as an Architect, Principal Engineer, or equivalent senior technical leader.
- Deep expertise in large-scale distributed systems, edge computing, and related technologies.
- Demonstrated ability to set and translate technical vision into practical architecture.
- Strong judgment across technical, operational, and business tradeoffs.
- Excellent communication skills to explain complex concepts to diverse audiences.
- Proven track record of mentoring senior technical talent.
- Ability to influence across teams without relying on formal authority.
- Experience simplifying complex systems and guiding organizations towards durable technical direction.
