Lead Software Engineer

- Designs, develops, troubleshoots, reviews, and debugs secure, high-quality production software.
- Identifies and automates recurring issue remediation to improve operational stability.
- Leads evaluations of vendor, startup, and internal architectural solutions.
- Leads software engineering communities of practice and promotes adoption of emerging technologies.
- Drives team adoption of approved AI-assisted engineering tools and establishes validation standards for correctness, performance, security, and compliance.
- Applies software development lifecycle tools and automation capabilities to improve delivery outcomes.
- Leads from the front toward business goals while supporting an inclusive and respectful team culture.
Requirements
- Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts and 5+ years of applied experience.
- Advanced knowledge of application, data, and infrastructure architecture and understanding of design across systems.
- Proficiency in one or more modern programming languages and working proficiency with development toolsets.
- Understanding of software business analysis, development, maintenance, and improvement practices.
- Expertise in Java, CockroachDB, PostgreSQL, Cassandra, Kafka, Spring, Spring Boot, and Cloud Foundry.
- Deep understanding of REST and SOAP protocols.
- Experience leading approved AI-assisted software development tools and validating their outputs for correctness, performance, and security.
- Understanding of responsible AI use, data sensitivity, secure handling of inputs and outputs, resiliency, and security expectations.
- Preferred: cloud certification and AI/ML expertise.
